I'm so excited to launch the Walk Easy program. If you are struggling with your dogs outdoors, then this program is perfect for you.
I have had my share of challenges walking my dogs outdoors, especially with Mutton. She would excessively pull the leash, lunge at animals and vehicles on the road, drag me forward - it was painful! I remember so many moments when I would breakdown on the road because I just couldn't it.
But that changed! Not just because time heals everything but with the help of the right skill and knowledge to help my dog and myself enjoy our time outdoors. And that's what I hope to facilitate for you.
Mutton's story of change
Watch how Mutton is focused on sniffing, her body is relaxed, the leash is loose in an extremely busy and loud environment. This is the exact same environment in which she would pull, be unable to focus and experience significant sensory overload.
So, how did we get here?
What you see in your dog outside is a reflection of what is on the inside
Most leash walking programs focus on addressing behaviours that occur only in the outdoors. And that's how they are limited in their effectiveness and stickiness for the dog. Your dog could be pulling on the leash for several reasons:
-
Improper outdoor equipment
-
Overwhelming environments
-
Poor human handling of the leash
-
Poor body language of the human while outdoors
-
Pain

While addressing your dog's outdoor behaviours, it's also important to understand what's going on internally for your dog and address those pieces first.

In practice...
This was the demo session with a client who described her dog as an "aggressive puller who almost pulled her shoulder out of the socket". This is the first time she's using a long leash and is being guided with me in the background. At the end of this demo, she remarked how she had never seen her dog this calm and sniff so much on a walk!
